children's author
& poet

I love reading and writing funny and adventurous children's books. My favorite authors are Jeanne Birdsall, Sharon Creech, Lauren Wolk, Grace Lin, Kate DiCamillo, Astrid Lindgren, Roald Dahl, and Edward Lear.
I hold an MFA in Creative Writing from The New School, NY and an MA (Hons) in Philosophy from Edinburgh University, UK.
In 2017, I founded the Bellport Children's Festival, a whimsical, immersive children's storytelling festival set on Isabella Rossellini's newly named MAMA Farm on Long Island.

About Me:
I grew up on the edge of Sherwood Forest and yes, my father really was the High Sheriff of Nottinghamshire, England. As a young child, I lived in the woods, made my own bow and arrows, mixed mud potions, built forts in the rhododendrums, made elaborate hamster hotels, and climbed trees until way past bedtime. I also rode my rebellious pony everywhere rescuing innocent insects and hurt field mice.
Adventure is my middle name, or I wanted it to be. Instead my parents named me after two female monarchs. Can you guess which ones? To prove I was not a royal softee, I flew British Bulldogs with the Royal Air Force, climbed the Matterhorn, and traveled solo around China and Pakistan.
Today I live in Brooklyn, NY with my husband, three rambunctious children and our wild wolf, Sugar. I still climb trees and run the Bellport Children's Festival.
